Did you know that certain blood types and body types react to different types of foods differently?
Possibly, some of you are thinking, that it’s hard enough to learn the different type of macro nutrients and caloric amounts, to consider blood types seems a bit much.
I get it, and I will try to simplify it as much as I can!
Just consider it another cheat sheet in navigating through your personal health and wellness journey in order to feel your best.
The blood type diet is based on the principal that when we eat, a chemical reaction occurs between the food we eat and our blood. This reaction, which is genetically inherited, is caused by proteins found in food called lectins, which can cause our blood cells to clump or adhere together. When you eat foods that contains lectins which are incompatible with your blood type antigen, the lectins target an organ or bodily system and can cause blood cells to start to agglutinate.
Our immune system protects us from a majority of the lectins we eat, however a small percentage ends up in the blood stream and can cause reactions in different parts of the body. Sometimes people are not allergic to foods, but they do have a sensitivity and one reason could be due to their natural blood type. Possibly you have noticed when certain foods simply don’t agree with you, or you feel a bit bloated and gassy after eating them.
According to Dr. Peter DÀdamo, the author of Eat Right For Your Type, the blood type diet helps you make informed choices about what foods to eat and which ones to avoid, what exercise is most suited to you, and which diseases you could be potentially predisposed to. By following the blood type diet you can improve energy levels, encourage weight loss, and improve digestive problems.
As a health and wellness coach, I often incorporate the blood type diet into my clients dietary plans. It is a useful tool that can highlight foods that could be causing problems in digestion, the foods they are best genetically suited to eating, or to assist with weight loss.
