Have you ever pushed yourself in an extra intense workout or 10X your efforts with that never-ending “Kick @ss” internal training voice just not as pretty as a Jillian Michaels?
Possibly, with so much internal agitation that it made it seem like a punishment for that extra greasy, big bunned burger with loaded fries you previously ate.
How about we not do that anymore! Are you willing to try a different approach than near-death experiences, unless you like torture? 😉
Exercise is intended to be a gifted space offering both the soul and body a space to rejuvenate and thrive, not a torture routine.
Sure, there are moments of deliberate training, and you can talk to any high-performing athlete or sculpting coach and they will confirm that.
However, at this moment, I am referring to more of a daily routine towards increasing the quality of health and vitality.
Just think about this for a moment… would you rather go get your teeth cleaned or have sex?
See?!!!
The brain and body love to run towards pleasure naturally, so if you want to get excited about fitness, exercise, and feeling good, then perhaps create a routine that offers you that space of rejuvenation and pleasure.
If kicking your own @ss works for you, then keep doing it. I have those days where some extra sprints and few more intense rounds of running stairs is what I needed for decompressing, and afterward, it simply “hurts so good”!
If you are finding it hard to implement or follow through with an exercise routine and you want to, try this and see if it resonates and works for you.
Before your planned workout regimen, simply take a moment to ask yourself what modality you need at that time, kind of like a body/mind/ soul check-in.
Allowing for fluidity in your exercise routine can be such a gift and in the long run… if you enjoy it and have pleasure in that space, you will keep coming back for more!
Plus, the body can also plateau and you can even increase results by mixing things up a bit. Remember, back in the day, our ancestors didn’t go to the gym.
Setting specific intentions for muscle groups and training can still be done, just choose the avenue that fits you best at that time. i.e., yogi, Pilates, hot yoga, cycling, running, or machines.
Technology and applications provide so many options in the gym or out, or even old school without equipment, just you and mother nature. Run up some hills and breathe air, (hopefully fresh high quality, when possible).
All resulting, in a somewhat “effortless” regularly scheduled exercise routine. Follow-through is stated as one of the top challenges for humans that want to exercise regularly.
Don’t forget, you have the most powerful computing system in your head, the human brain. By running the best applications, thoughts, beliefs, approaches, and methods, you can achieve anything you set your mind to… only, if and when, it is set on the right frequency and channel!
